Shelley is the owner and operator of Ananda Body. She is originally certified and accredited in Pilates and The Method through the PhysicalMind Institute, and continues her training with Stott Pilates and Balanced Body. Shelley is also an ACE certified Personal Trainer and Fitness Instructor, 500-hour registered Yoga Alliance instructor, certified Thai Yoga Therapist, and student of Karate and Tai Chi.
August practically grew up in a Pilates studio, and kept her passion for movement and people. A graduate from University of Illinois Springfield’s Liberal Studies program, August has a background in theatre and science. Specializing in movement and vocal technique for the stage, she incorporates her love for Pilates to bring a unique perspective to fitness routines and rehabilitation exercises, as well as coaching actors on their form in choreographed fights, lifts and falls for performances. Currently she is studying ways to help individuals find empowerment through their breathing habits. She lives by a saying: “What would be the most fun? I firmly believe that liberating the body through movement and sound, we can release the inner bliss, or ananda, and become the best versions of ourselves one step at a time.”
